Astrotourism: Sleep Under a Sky Full of Stars

As 2025 shines a light on the growing trend of astrotourism, there’s never been a better time to experience the magic of the night sky. Whether you’re a keen stargazer or simply love the idea of falling asleep under a blanket of stars, our campsite and glamping pods at Prospect House Farm offer the perfect setting to explore the cosmos — without ever leaving the ground.

What Is Astrotourism?

Astrotourism is all about travelling to places where the night sky is so clear and free from light pollution, you can see the Milky Way with your naked eye. It’s about swapping city lights for starry nights, finding peace in the quiet of the countryside, and reconnecting with the natural world — one constellation at a time.

Why Prospect House Farm Is the Perfect Stargazing Spot

We’re lucky to be located within a Dark Sky Reserve on the North Yorkshire Coast — one of the best places in the UK for stargazing. On a clear night, you can see thousands of stars, shooting stars, planets, and even the Northern Lights, all from the comfort of your pitch or glamping pod.

Whether you’re camping in a tent or snuggled up in one of our cosy glamping pods, the sky above you becomes your personal planetarium.

What You Can See

  • The Milky Way stretching across the sky
  • Meteor showers (especially during peak times like the Perseids and Geminids)
  • Planets such as Venus, Jupiter and Saturn
  • Aurora Borealis (when conditions are just right — and they often are!)
  • Star clusters and constellations perfect for kids and beginners to spot

Camping, Campfires & Cosmic Views

There’s something truly special about traditional camping under a dark sky — the crackle of a campfire, the warmth of toasted marshmallows, and the thrill of spotting your first shooting star. At Prospect House Farm, our spacious pitches offer the perfect balance of comfort and adventure, with fire pits available so you can stay warm long into the night.

Gather around with family or friends, share stories, sip something hot, and let the sky above steal the show. Stargazing doesn’t have to be silent — it can be social, fun, and full of wonder.

A Lazy Way to Stargaze

At Prospect House Farm, we believe in the art of being lazy — and that includes stargazing. You don’t need fancy equipment or expert knowledge. Bring a blanket, a warm drink, and lie back. The stars will do the rest.

Glamping with the Galaxy Overhead

Prefer a little luxury with your constellations? Our glamping pods offer the perfect mix of comfort and adventure. Think private outdoor space, warm interiors, and the joy of stepping outside into the stillness of the night, where the sky opens up just for you.

When to Visit
