About Prospect House Farm
What kind of place is Prospect House Farm?
Prospect House Farm is a small, family-run campsite and glamping site offering relaxed stays near Scarborough on the North Yorkshire Coast.
Is Prospect House Farm a large holiday park?
No, far from it, that’s not the vibe here. We’re a small, peaceful site focused on space, simplicity and a calm atmosphere rather than busy entertainment or crowds.
What makes Prospect House Farm different?
We offer an unhurried experience, with plenty of space, were not about cramming people in. A warm friendly welcome awaits with a setting that encourages guests to slow down, enjoy being together, and really give you a connection with nature and each other.
What is the Art of Being Lazy?
Well…. It’s a feeling, a way of describing how the farm makes you feel. Dating back to 1817 the place has seen a lot of history. Time seems to move slower here and there’s a pace that’s hard to work against, so we go with the flow. It’s “The Art of Being Lazy”, and that’s how it is.
Do you have a campsite shop on site?
Yes, we do. A small shop growing every year, selling a range of essentials just in case you forget your toothbrush. But we also sell our own honey, milk and milkshakes from the farm. A range of sweets, drinks, snack, toiletries and also alcohol. From local ales and cider to wines and a small selection of local gins.
Is there phone signal on site, Wi-Fi and phone charging?
Mobile phone signal is generally good on site so you will have no trouble calling and using mobile data. Our glamping pods have Wi-Fi. The campsite has some USB charging points for mobile phones and devices.

This is something we aim to improve every year, currently we have a small play area, with a tunnel, slide and bridge. It certainly keeps little ones entertained. And we are always open to suggestions on how to improve it.
Do you allow campfires on the campsite?
Yes, we certainly do and encourage it. You can’t beat sitting around a fire telling campfire stories. Wood and kindling must be purchased on site to encourage sustainability, and we have firepits to hire. The shop also sells marshmallows and fire side treats.

Accessibility & Environment
Accessibility & Practical Information
Is Prospect House Farm suitable for guests with limited mobility?
Prospect House Farm is a rural, working farm, so the terrain is mostly grass with gentle slopes rather than paved paths. While many guests with limited mobility enjoy their stay, the site may not be suitable for all mobility needs. We’re always happy to talk through individual requirements before booking.
Are the camping fields flat and easy to get around?
The camping fields are largely level but are grassed areas rather than hardstanding. Paths are natural rather than paved, which is part of the rural setting but may be challenging for some mobility aids.
Are the toilets and showers accessible?
Our facilities are clean, well maintained and easy to access for most guests. If you have specific accessibility needs, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss whether the facilities are suitable for you.
Are the glamping cabins accessible?
The glamping cabins are accessed via short outdoor paths and steps, and include raised decking areas. While they are comfortable and well equipped, they may not be suitable for guests who require step-free access throughout.
Can I park close to where I’m staying?
Campervans and motorhomes are parked on their pitches. The tent camping meadow is car-free, with parking a short walk away. Wheelbarrows are available to help transport belongings. For the glamping cabins parking is adjacent to them.
Is the site suitable for guests with sensory sensitivities?
Many guests find the site particularly calming due to its quiet atmosphere, natural surroundings and lack of crowds. Evenings are generally peaceful, with natural sounds rather than amplified noise.
Can I contact you to discuss accessibility before booking?
Absolutely. We’re always happy to talk through individual needs and help you decide whether Prospect House Farm is the right fit for your stay.
Sustainability and Environment
How eco-friendly are your glamping pods?
We try at every level to make decisions based around the environment; our hot tubs are powered by high efficiency heat pumps. The cabins themselves are super insulated so reduce energy consumption. We are dark skies friendly so have minimal site lighting to reduce the impact on wildlife and the greater landscape.
How eco-friendly is the campsite?
We’re actively working towards running the campsite on green energy, using a green electricity supplier and increasing our on-site renewable energy. We encourage recycling throughout the site, and for every Greener Camping Club member, a tree is planted on the farm to support new woodland and hedgerows.
